GL Accountant
Your tasks
- Perform day-to-day general ledger (GL) accounting, month-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare and submit monthly management reports in accordance with KG reporting timelines.
- Compute the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) for monthly and year-end reporting purposes.
- Assist in the annual physical inventory count.
- Account for the cost of newly acquired fixed assets (tangible and intangible), track existing assets, record depreciation, and manage the disposal of fixed assets, including:
- Creating and monitoring systems of control, procedures, and forms for fixed asset recordation.
- Assigning tag numbers to fixed assets.
- Recording fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the ERP system.
- Reconciling the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the general ledger.
- Reviewing and updating the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
- Investigating potential obsolescence of fixed assets.
- Conducting periodic physical counts of fixed assets.
- Preparing audit schedules related to fixed assets and assisting auditors with their inquiries.
- Serve as a backup for intercompany reconciliations.
- Prepare and file monthly GST returns, ensuring records comply with Comptroller of GST requirements.
- Assist in indirect tax filings and related matters.
- Support the collection of data and information for the year-end consolidation package.
- Liaise with auditors, corporate tax agents, and relevant government authorities.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, company policies, and delegated authority.
- Participate in project teams to resolve business issues and support the development and implementation of improved business processes.
- Carry out ad-hoc projects and tasks to support business requirements.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience. Preferred industry experience in manufacturing or wholesale sectors.
- CA/CPA qualification is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, tax compliance, fixed asset management, and budgeting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, Singapore tax and GST regulations, and statutory compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as JDE, SAP, or other similar financial management systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with a strong understanding of finance processes and system interfaces.
